The Startup

Eunoia

A start-up offering F&B businesses a plug-and-play solution that would allow adopters to go digital.

About the Challenge

Large crowds in narrow walkways and snaking queues at every stall are a common sight at food courts during peak periods like the lunchtime crunch. This not only makes an inconvenient and sometimes unpleasant experience for customers, but also poses as a challenge to merchants who struggle with the influx of orders and payments.

The Solution

Introducing FJ Makan!, a mobile application where customers can pre-order meals from their preferred stall in Food Junction, and make direct cashless payments via DBS/POSB credit cards, debit cards, or PayLah!.
See how easy it is to go from hungry to ready-to-eat:

A push notification will be triggered once the order is ready for collection. Alternatively, users may track the order status from the application's e-receipt function.

Dine-in orders can be collected directly from the food stalls, while takeaway orders can be collected from the heated food locker located at the entrance of the food court. To retrieve an order from the food locker, users will simply need to enter the PIN number or scan the QR code found on the e-receipt or push notification.

With this nifty mobile application, customers can enjoy a hassle-free experience at the food court without worrying about snaking queues or cash payments. Pre-orders also mean better order management for merchants, allowing them to plan ahead to alleviate bottlenecks during peak periods.

The Startup Experience

From user feedback, to suggested features, to marketing opportunities - Eunoia received mentorship and support from the Startup Xchange team throughout the pre-launch process of iterative product design.

DBS is well-known for being a digital bank, and we were introduced to the client by Paul Bedi from the Digital and Emerging Payments team, who held him in high regard for his experience in the F&B industry. As a startup, our team is lean and it was challenging to create traction. This connection provided very good support, especially in terms of increasing end-user and store engagement to make this initiative successful.

Zihuan Wee, Founder and CEO of Eunoia

Since embarking on this project with Startup Xchange, Eunoia's clientele has expanded, working with notable clients like Frasers Property Singapore and Dairy Farm. The startup is also in the process of scaling its business beyond Singapore, into fast-growing digital markets like Indonesia and the Philippines.

The Startup Xchange and Digital and Emerging Payments teams continue to partner with Eunoia to explore a range of digital solutions. Read more about their second project, Makan Master.
