Fund Your Way to the Top

With DBS, Wujudkan is now able to empower artists and creators, even the society in fundraising for their future masterpiece.

Wujudkan.com was created because we realised that artists in the creative industry often have brilliant and talented ideas, but struggle in raising funds for their projects. We wanted to show the public that there is a way to realize their dreams without having to sacrifice their artistic integrity for the sake of finance. That is why we pioneered a crowdfunding platform specially catered to artists and creators

– Alderina Gracia, Marketing Manager.

Through Wujudkan.com, artists and creators in Indonesia have found an outlet to raise funds for their inspirational projects. Bank DBS Indonesia helped further realize Wujudkan’sSPARK to spread the knowledge about the crowdfunding platform and equip creators with knowledge regarding business planning to help them create more sustainable projects.

Today, Wujudkan.com has become a community for artists and creators to gather, and has had many inspirational projects to list under its repertoire.

Mandy Marahimin developed the idea behind Wujudkan.com after realizing that artists and creators in the creative industry often struggle to raise funds for their projects. As a leader in the industry, Mandy witnessed many inspirational projects that did not come to fruition because some creations did not fit with the expectation of investors. After starting in 2012, Wujudkan.com serves as a platform to cater to inspirational and independent creativeswithout having to depend on a select few investors. This way, anyone who believes in the project has a chance to contribute to its realization.

However, despite its success, Wujudkan still faces a constant challenge in realizing the projects of would-be creators. Alderina, Marketing Manager of Wujudkan.com, said, “Ever since our inception in 2012, we have received over 1000 project proposals, and despite their highly creative ideas, many of the projects did not have sufficient business strategy to support it. We sometimes have to reconsider these proposals as they don’t seem to be sustainable”.

Wujudkan believes that a creative idea should also be supported by a good campaign and business strategy. Projects have a higher chance to be realized and creators when being planned with a business mindset and can have a sense of sustainability in creating future projects.

Wujudkan.com started as a way to realize the dreams of artists and creators, and in order for that to occur, we need artists and creators to understand the basic fundamentals behind the crowdfunding platform, including how to make the correct campaign and business strategy

said Alderina.

Mandy and Alderina then realized that to communicate this cause, there needs to be a socialization of campaign and business strategies to would-be creators and those who would like to create start-up businesses.

Partnering with DBS Indonesia, Wujudkan created WujudkanCrowdfunding School, a workshop conducted in Bandung and Jakarta to share knowledge about campaigning our project and business strategies to creators in order to facilitate project sustainability. Aside from introducing the public to the crowdfunding system and Wujudkan.com, Wujudkan representatives also shared about campaign strategies that are sure to help creators in achieving their goals.

Aside from facilitating the workshop, Bank DBS Indonesia also invited DewiMeisari to share her insights on how to make a correct business planning. As the head of the SME Centre in Universitas Indonesia, Dewi gave various tips to support the success of would-be projects, from how to make a good mission statement, to how to make the correct budget plan for start-up businesses.

About 70 people attended in both cities, fully equipped with a thirst for knowledge and questions regarding campaign and business strategies. Participants left with a newfound skill in making a successful project for their careers.

Thanks to the workshop, DBS helped realize the dreams of Wujudkan and its creative community of artists. Through WujudkanCrowdfunding School, DBS and Wujudkan have further empowered Indonesian creators to make a difference through creative and artistic means.

Creators now have a chance to continue making art projects and further develop their careers in the creative industry. Through this workshop, creators can also gain knowledge on how to optimize their social media in campaigning for their projects, as well as tips on how to effectively communicate their ideas and translate them to the business language.

The workshop was very conducive for creators. Since the workshop, we have received a few high quality proposals from the participants, further proving that they are now better equipped with the correct skills and knowledge to make sustainable art and business projects
