Singapore, 02 Mar 2026 - From 1 April 2026, consumers returning eligible beverage containers at Return Right Reverse Vending Machines (RVMs) across Singapore can receive their refunds via their DBS PayLah! wallets. To do so, they simply need to generate their personal QR code under ‘My QR’ in the app and scan it at the machine. The integration of DBS PayLah! into the RVM network operated by Beverage Container Return Scheme Ltd. (BCRS Ltd.) offers consumers another mode of refund within Singapore’s container return scheme.
Scan DBS PayLah! My QR at Reverse Vending Machine to receive bottle/can deposit refunds; eligible users can sign up for app without DBS/POSB bank account.Under the scheme, consumers deposit eligible bottles or cans into the RVMs, select DBS PayLah! as their preferred refund mode and scan their PayLah! ‘My QR’ code at the machine’s QR reader. Refunds are then credited into their PayLah! wallet, with confirmation via push notification and as reflected in transaction history within the app. DBS PayLah! is open to all users in Singapore and eligible users can sign up for the app without a DBS/POSB bank account

Chan Sow Han, Head of Payments and Unsecured Lending, Consumer Banking Group, DBS Singapore, said, “With more than three million users, DBS PayLah! is Singapore’s most widely adopted mobile wallet, embedded in how users make everyday payments and enjoy deals and rewards. Its reach and convenience also help support initiatives aimed at creating positive impact. We are pleased to provide consumers with a familiar digital option, demonstrating how supporting sustainability can be as easy and seamless as paying for hawker meals.”
Stephanie Yip, CEO of BCRS Ltd., said, “We are stoked to partner with DBS Singapore to integrate DBS PayLah! as a refund option under the scheme. By embedding deposit refunds into one of Singapore’s most widely used digital wallets, we are making recycling part of everyday life – simple, immediate and intuitive. This collaboration reflects a shared belief that sustainability must be both accessible and scalable. Together with DBS, we are not just enabling refunds – we are building digital infrastructure that supports our national journey towards circularity. Our goal is to make responsible recycling for everyone and partnerships like this help accelerate that journey.”

Helge Muenkel, Chief Sustainability Officer, DBS Bank, said, “As a bank, our job is to make doing the right thing simple and rewarding. Through our partnership with BCRS Ltd., we are turning everyday recycling into something that’s easy, practical and valuable for everyone. Sustainability works best when it fits naturally into daily life and we are proud to help make that happen for all."
