SINGAPORE, 11 October 2013 – DBS Bank today announced the launch of DBS Movies by the Bay, enabling members of the public to enjoy an outdoor cinematic experience at Marina Bay. This initiative is part of a year-long series of activities the bank has lined up to enliven the Marina Bay area and enable people from all walks of life to enjoy the Bay.
With DBS Movies by the Bay, the public will be able to enjoy their favourite movies in the open air, and by the lapping waters of Marina Bay, compliments of the Bank. The movie screening will take place at the Waterfront Promenade every third Friday and Saturday of the month in October, November and December this year. A different blockbuster movie will be screened each night.
To kick off the event, box-office hits ‘The Dark Knight’ and ‘Avatar’ will be screened on 18 and 19 October respectively. As part of DBS’ support of social entrepreneurship, the bank will also be engaging various social enterprises which will be selling popcorn, drinks and snacks during the movie screening.
In addition to transforming the Bay into a vibrant locale, DBS Movies by the Bay is unique in that every month, members of the public can vote for which movie to watch. From November onwards, prior to a movie screening, DBS will post a shortlist of five blockbuster movies on its Facebook page. The two movies which garner the most ‘likes’ from members of the public will be screened that weekend.

Since moving our headquarters to the Marina Bay Financial Centre last year, we have been launching initiatives to make the Bay a fun, dynamic and vibrant area for all. With the launch of DBS Movies by the Bay, we hope to further promote the live-work-play environment of the Marina Bay area, and give the public more opportunities to experience and enjoy the Bay.”
Earlier this year, DBS also enlivened Marina Bay with the DBS Sailing Programme, DBS Marina Regatta – Singapore’s largest water sports festival, and the POSB PAssion Run for Kids.

The DBS Marina Regatta is Singapore’s only international dragon boating competition, and is quickly gaining recognition as the premier showcase for the best of Southeast Asian dragon boat competition.
