Hong Kong, 12 May 2016 - With the success of more than 3 million views of “Sparks”, DBS’ first-of-its-kind banking mini-series inspired by a true story, our “Live more, bank less” campaign in Hong Kong continues with an inspiring series of video stories of real people and real lives that reflect a simple truth at DBS - you bank to live, not live to bank.

The video stories feature unique individuals whose passion in life speaks to our larger purpose of “Making Banking Joyful” and, in their own way, communicates what it means to “live more, bank less”. The video stories are of Daniel Chong (莊偉忠), ex-CEO of department store chain YATA, Erwin Huang (黃岳永), a serial entrepreneur and leader in the social enterprise eLearning field, celebrity designer  SK Lam, who is the driving force behind local creative studio AllRightsReserved, B.Duck founder and Semk Products Managing Director Eddie Hui (許夏林), Christine Ma-Lau (劉馬露明), who founded a children’s learning centre called Junior Excellent Members of Society (JEMS) and is the eldest daughter of MTR Corporation chairman Frederick Ma, and Rubio Chan and Jamie Cheung, who started North Korea tour organiser GLO Travel. The videos were directed by Ryan Lau, an anchor-turned-director.

The video stories kick off with Daniel Chong, whose unconventional management style while at the helm of YATA saw much success at the Japanese-themed retail group.

“I’ve been through many ups and downs in both business and in life and, through it all, my conscience, sense of humility, and earning the trust and respect of your peers have enabled me to succeed and thrive,” Daniel Chong said.

Of his experience directing the video stories, Ryan Lau said, “This documentary-style approach to filmmaking allows me to focus on the story of the individual, their unique characteristics and real events in their lives, to explore the concept of ‘live more, bank less’. With many people in Hong Kong working long hours, there is a need to reevaluate what it really means to live more and to live life to the fullest. I find it inspiring that a bank would espouse what people admire most about successful business leaders.”

The “Live more, bank less” campaign in Hong Kong will span across YouTube, Facebook and other digital channels from today until mid-July. The video stories can also be viewed at www.dbs.com/livemore.
