● Since its launch in 2023, the DBS Foundation Coding Camp has attracted more than 52,000 participants from all over Indonesia
● DBS Foundation Coding Camp 2024 aims to support the national digital transformation agenda
Ministry of Manpower 2022 data shows that by 2025, Indonesia’s information and communication technology (ICT) sector will need two million IT employees. This is to support the growth of Indonesia's digital economy, which has the potential to reach US$110 billion by 2025 according to a Google, Temasek and Bain Report in 2023. Therefore, in 2023, the Ministry of Communications and Informatics of the Republic of Indonesia set a three-phase national digital transformation agenda. The first phase is “prepare” (improving the basic digital foundation to build a transformation-ready society). The second phase is “transform” (accelerating transformation to create a smart society and businesses), and the third phase is “lead” (setting the standard for future innovation technologies).
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Head of Group Strategic Marketing & Communications at Bank DBS Indonesia Mona Monika said, "In collaboration with Dicoding Indonesia, DBS Foundation Coding Camp 2024 is here to accelerate Indonesia's transition to a digital world with a competitive digital economy. Since its launch in 2023, the programme has successfully reached 52,390 participants or 51 percent of our target of 102,000 participants in two years. With an industry-relevant curriculum developed by experts, we are optimistic that this activity can benefit the wider community and produce reliable programmers. This is in line with Bank DBS Indonesia's third sustainability pillar, Impact Beyond Banking, in our mission to be the 'Best Bank for a Better World'."

The positive response proves that people are eager to grow their skills and this is what motivates us to hold another DBS Foundation Coding Camp. Together with DBS Bank Indonesia, we hope to contribute to efforts to create more Indonesian digital talents who are ready to compete in the digital economy in the future."
Through DBS Foundation Coding Camp 2023, DBS Bank Indonesia succeeded in creating a positive impact on society. This was indicated by the diverse backgrounds of the participants, from teachers (4.6 percent), to students (54.1 percent), and the general public (41.3 percent). The distribution of basic and beginner scholarships to all applicants not only provided learning opportunities but also encouraged inclusivity in advancing digital literacy in the wider community. Furthermore, by awarding intermediate scholarships to 1,113 participants, and expert scholarships to 589 participants, the programme offered tangible incentives to participants who consistently improved their technology skills. Moreover, the programme was able to reach more than 4,000 participants from economically disadvantaged families.
Universitas Mulia, Balikpapan, lecturer Istia Budi, the best graduate of DBS Foundation Coding Camp 2023, said, "Through DBS Foundation Coding Camp 2023, I was able to upgrade my skills and apply them on campus and in our projects. The knowledge I acquired in this programme helped me improve my skills and supports my work as a teacher. I was able to transfer the knowledge I gained to students, from basic to expertise levels, so that the projects we undertook could run well. As a high-quality learning platform, this programme not only provides training but also builds a solid foundation for professional advancement."
The programme is a manifestation of Bank DBS Indonesia's "Live like an innovator more, Bank less" spirit.
