HONG KONG,21 March 2016 -

Applications are still available for DBS Social Innovators 2016, which seeks to support daring and outstanding social innovators and entrepreneurs to help drive social change through the use of design and technology, but the deadline is fast approaching. Applications need to be received by Thursday, 31 March.

As a social innovator, all you need is a good idea for how you can help make a difference for the benefit and social good of the Hong Kong community. Just get a team together and develop an innovative solution to an identified social problem. You can apply online by uploading your proposal and a 3-minute pitching video via: https://www.dbs-socialinnovators.hk/apply-now/.

A total of 20 teams will be shortlisted to participate in the Pitchathon, where they will pitch their ideas to a panel of judges. Of these teams, 10 finalists will be selected to receive three months of acceleration support with HK$20,000 each team to test and validate their ideas and develop a prototype for the Final Pitch process. The top four teams will each receive HK$450,000 in funding and a further one year of incubation support.

DBS Foundation launched DBS Social Innovators 2016 to engage and connect social innovators from different sectors, and to drive social innovation. At DBS, we believe the new generation of social entrepreneurs will be tech-savvy social innovators who can apply and integrate design, technology and other professional expertise in their business for social good.

The programme kicked off early this year with a series of Social Talks on the use of innovative technology to create social change and open up infinite possibilities in people’s lives. The talks attracted over 200 participants including IT professionals, designers, NGOs and SMEs representatives to discuss current social issues and community needs.
