DBS Foundation Coding Camp 2023 provides scholarships to improve Indonesians competence in information technology sector
Indonesia, 08 Feb 2023 - In an era of rapidly developing digital transformation, digital skills gap and availability of talent still remain a challenge for the Indonesian government. DBS Foundation together with Bank DBS Indonesia present ‘DBS Foundation Coding Camp 2023’, a scholarship program for online coding training. Through this program, DBS Foundation aims to equip Indonesians, prioritizing the lower middle class, to be ready to compete in the digital economy. DBS Bank Ltd (DBS Bank) has three sustainability pillars as the bases for their thinking, namely Responsible Banking, Business Practice, and Create Impact Beyond Banking. The DBS Foundation Coding Camp 2023 program is a manifestation of the bank’s third sustainability pillar.

The2023 Temasek, Bain dan Google reportstates that the digital economy has succeeded in creating 160 thousand high-skilled jobs and indirectly supports nearly 30 million jobs. In addition, global IT spending is projected to reach USD 4.6 trillion by 2023, an increase of 5.1% from 2022[1]. With the goal of paving the way to a more equitable society, DBS Foundation initiated a Community Impact chapter with a total funding of SGD 5.6 million for 10 programs in Singapore, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, and Taiwan, one of which is the DBS Foundation Coding Camp 2023 to accelerate digital transformation and its potential. In Indonesia, this program targets 102,000 Indonesian citizens (WNI) as beneficiaries and is divided into three categories, namely academics (teachers, lecturers or non-formal IT instructors), students, as well as the general public. Collaborating with Dicoding, a foundation engaged in providing technology education platforms, this program aspires to generate impact by providing digital literacy to prepare people for the future.
“As digital transformation accelerates, the role of programmers has become increasingly important, such as creating the right applications or programs to help companies’ growth. It is in line with the increase of public interest in learning the science of coding. Therefore, we are looking forward to the realization of the DBS Foundation Coding Camp 2023 collaboration program which was inaugurated today. This program will help participants to hone their coding skills which will be useful in the present and the future," said CEO and Founder of Dicoding Indonesia Narenda Wicaksono.
Starting today, applicants can register until 25 May 2023 on the https://go.dbs.com/dbsfcodingcamppage to automatically receive confirmation via email and gain access to learn coding free of charge at the basic and beginner levels. After completing the basic and beginner levels, participants proceed to intermediate and expert levels with requisitions. Participants can select either one of two learning options, which is Back-End Developer or DevOps Engineer:
Participants who have completed the materials at the basic beginner level by 31 May 2023 through self-paced methods will get a code review session by the Developer Expert and have the opportunity to get a limited number of scholarships at the advanced level. In the intermediate and expert levels, participants can access Live Sessions and online discussion forums to help the learning process. Advanced scholarship recipients will be selected based on the value of the final assignment, study duration, and applicant profile.
