Indonesia, 18 Sep 2024 - Bank DBS Indonesia launched the digibank Z Visa Platinum Credit Card, a credit card made from recycled material or recycled PVC plastic (polyvinyl chloride). This latest innovation meets the needs of the younger generations, especially Gen Z and millennials, who are increasingly concerned about sustainability and environmental issues while enjoying the benefits of credit card features. This is in line with the spirit of the #IEarnedDiz campaign that aims to educate Gen Z and millennials to manage their finances smartly while still being able to enjoy the fruits of their labour. The launch event was attended by Consumer Banking Director of PT Bank DBS Indonesia

First Insight's 2021 research
reveals that 73% of the younger generations are willing to pay more money for products that have a positive impact on the environment. McKinsey's research in 2023 shows similar results, that is to say, that Gen Z and millennials now consider the personal, social, and environmental impacts of products when making purchasing decisions.
“Gen Z and millennials care deeply about the future of our planet. Therefore, through the launch of this recycled credit card, we want to provide them with a financial solution that is not only functional but also aligned with their environmental values,” said Head of Card and Loan Business at PT Bank DBS Indonesia
Ari Lastina
. “We believe that by combining modern financial technology with a commitment to sustainability we can support the younger generations in their journey towards a more sustainable future.”
Each digibank Z Visa Platinum credit card printed with recycled material will reduce plastic waste by 3.18 grammes/card and reduce CO2 emissions by 7 grammes. This product is a concrete manifestation of Bank DBS Indonesia's sustainability pillars, namely Responsible Banking and Impact Beyond Banking, which integrate sustainability in banking products and services, as well as contribute to the wider community beyond the scope of banking. Environmentally friendly banking products have proven to be an option for customers who want to reduce their carbon footprint. This is reflected in the fact that 76% of Bank DBS Indonesia's customers opt for the online application process with an approval within 60 seconds to reduce paper usage.
In addition to embracing sustainability, the digibank Z Visa Platinum credit card comes with the spirit of the #IEarnedDiz campaign that is inspired by the younger generations who love to celebrate their hard-earned achievements and enjoy life while managing their finances effectively. To that end, this card offers benefits consisting of three main pillars, namely, (1) transaction flexibility through the 0% pay later feature for up to 6 months for transactions anywhere and anytime; (2) efficient transactions using the digibank by DBS application that can be accessed 24/7; (3) access to various daily and exclusive promos such as Buy 1 Get 1 Free, 50% savings at selected merchants daily, as well as 20% off at Grab EV (electric vehicle).
