TOEFL Exam – Rescheduling, Cancellation and Refund Policy

You are allowed to reschedule or cancel your TOEFL registration. However, you must place your request at least 4 days before the test date. For instance, if your test is scheduled on a Friday, you need to place your rescheduling or cancellation request by Monday.

Rescheduling policy: If you choose to reschedule your appointment, you have to pay a fee of $60, before you can register for a new appointment. The rescheduling request should be placed through your ETS account online, or through the TOEFL® official app. As an Indian student appearing for the TOEFL exam, you may also contact your Regional Registration Centre to cancel or reschedule your appointment. You cannot cancel or reschedule your appointment via e-mail or post, or at the test centre.

Cancellation and refund: As mentioned above, you need to send your cancellation request at least four days before the test date. You will be eligible for a refund of 50% of the original TOEFL exam fees paid at the time of registration. The remaining amount is retained to cover the expenses associated with processing your registration and holding your seat at the test centre. Refunds for other services, besides the registration fee, are not provided.

Refund policy for ETS-initiated cancellations: You will be eligible for a full refund only if ETS cancels a test administration after you arrive at the test centre, and you choose not to reschedule the appointment. In case the test administration or scores after taking a test are cancelled by ETS, you will be refunded for the travel costs incurred by you, within 30 days of the original test date, provided you can provide documents proving the travel expenses. Note that the refund will only be processed for the student appearing for the test, and not any chaperone (parent, guardian, for instance) accompanying the student. Refunds are processed in US dollars, and cash refunds are not provided. In the case of card payments, the refund will be credited back to the source account, whereas cheque payments will be processed after 8 weeks1 2
