As an international student dreaming of studying in Singapore, you can consider applying to the Singapore Institute of Management. Founded in 1964 by the Singapore Economic Development Board, the SIM is one of the most prestigious higher-learning institutions in the city-state of Singapore. Registered under the Committee for Private Education, Singapore, the SIM is a private institution that provides tertiary education and professional training. SIM offers 40 different courses with varying durations across fields like management, engineering, computers, humanities, sciences and more. SIM offers merit-based scholarships to students exhibiting excellence in academics, sports and the performing arts. International students intending to study diploma courses at SIM can apply for the SIM Global Education Diploma Scholarship. You need to have exemplary academic results to be eligible for this scholarship which covers the minimum period required to complete the entire course. The scholarship comes with no bond attached, and the scholarship amount covers the entire cost of the course tuition fees in Singapore dollars.
SIM also offers local and international students intending to attend their Bachelor’s degree programmes the Global Education Scholarship for excellence in academics, sports and/or performing arts. This scholarship also covers the minimum period needed to complete the remaining or entire course of study and does not come with any attached bond. However, you must ensure that you send the scholarship application before the application period closes. You may send your applications between October and December for the April intake and April and June for the October intake.
The SIM University has one of the most comprehensive campuses in all of Singapore. The two main campuses of the SIM occupy a gross total floor area of 120,000 metres and are located in Clementi Road and Namly Avenue. SIM has another international campus, located in One Park, Phnom Penh City Centre or PPCC in Cambodia. The Clementi Road campus is divided into four blocks. Block A is the largest campus occupying a total area of 44,623 square metres, whereas Blocks B, C, and D are spread of a total area of 29,709 square metres, 30,550 square metres, and 4,970 square metres, respectively. All the blocks are equipped with classrooms, libraries, computer and science laboratories and other amenities like students’ lounges, gymnasiums, learning centres, eating outlets, activity hubs, open study areas and more. The second campus, i.e. the Namly Avenue campus, is comparatively smaller. It is spread over 10,063 square metres and comprises eight lecture halls and 12 classrooms with a capacity to seat over 1,600 students.
SIM offers its international students accommodation in hostels and Halls of Residence. However, the accommodation is not on campus. SIM has tied up with affiliate hostel service providers such as Yo: Ha Habitat, which is one of the biggest student hostels in Singapore, with various campuses. The SIM university puts up its students in 2 of the Yo: Ha Habitat hostels, namely the Yo: Ha@Henderson and Yo: Ha@ Evans.
SIM students can also choose to stay at the East Lodge @ Clementi situated on the west of Singapore, and located on No. 1, Saint Albert Winsemius Lane. This hostel is located in close proximity to SIM and is an excellent area for students who want to stay in a quiet neighbourhood. You may avail of private rooms or opt for shared accommodations on a twin or quad-sharing basis. The hostel is equipped with additional amenities, including a common study area, outdoor sports facilities and a common dining area, among other things.
Students opting to reside in the SIM affiliated hostels are required to sign a contract. As such, they must ensure they check the quality of facilities provided and comply with the terms and conditions before agreeing to stay in the hostels. Besides these modes of accommodation, you may also choose to live in other types of rented accommodations, either privately or with friends.

Yes, as an international student applying to SIM, you need to ensure you appear for the IELTS or TOEFL English Language exam and get the scores required in the range of the course you intend to study. Also, if you intend to apply to a full-time programme, you need to submit an online Student’s Pass (STP) application form. Note that the Student’s Pass application is subjected to the approval of the Singapore Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA).
